The BIG Small Print
We've got nothing to hide. Here is the basic nuts and bolts type information pertaining to accounts and policies.
Basic dialup
The $15 a month JMUG-Connect dialup package includes toll free certified Mac
support, ten (10) POP3 email boxes with 25MB total of space to be allocated
between accounts as you wish. SPAM protection services utilize the Open Relay
Database (ORDB) to block known SPAM relay servers. Webmail access is included
with every e-mail account. The 100MBs of personal web storage may be accessed
via FTP or AFP. Personal sites only, please. We reserve the right to restrict
bandwidth if your account is affecting the service quality of others. The
56k v.90 dialup access access is unlimited in most areas.
Time usage
Unlimited usage is available in many areas. Unlimited usage is denoted next
to each number in access number search results. Numbers that don't support
unlimited usage have the number of hours noted next to the number.
Instant account
activation
Accounts can be instantly created from the web site by completing the secure
online
form. You'll be able to dial in right away. However, email and web space
services are activated manually by our Systems Administrator. You'll be notified
shortly via the
alternative email address you've registered with us when those services are
active. If no email is provided, you'll be contacted by phone. Payment via
credit card billing is required for instant account activation.
Networks
Access numbers are part of larger telephone/data networks. When your dialup
account
is setup, the access number selected is part of a given network.
Your network will be
the one that provides the best access for where you plan to use the
connection the most (such as home or work). You can travel anywhere in the
United States, parts of Canada, and some some U.S. possessions and dial in
using a local number that is part of that network. Access numbers can be acquired
through the JMUG-Connect web site.
There are no roaming fees or time usage penalties if you travel and use
other access numbers of the same network. You will not be able to dial into
numbers on other networks no matter where you are.
Example: Qwest is the only company that operates a telephone network
in your town.
Your account would be placed on the Qwest network. You travel to Chicago for
business, all you have to do is look up a local Qwest access number from the
JMUG-Connect web site for Chicago and dial in.
Billing
Free automatic credit card billing is the preferred payment method. Credit
cards are billed on the 25th of each month for the next month's service. The
bill on your credit card statement will read "Your ISP." Other payments,
such as checks and money orders, are accepted. However, your account balance
is required to be prepaid for at least two months at all times. Paper
payments must arrive on or before the last business day of the month. If you
cancel the service, the difference of your account balance will be refunded.
Accounts activated on or between the 1st and 15th of a month are billed for
that month's service. Accounts activated after the 15th of the month will
not be billed until the next full month.
